An advanced school is being organized at the S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata.The school will focus on the physics of transition metal oxides and will discuss methods of modeling them, making close contact with experiments
Major topics addressed by the School are
- Advanced ab-initio and many-body approaches specifically developed for calculating structural and electronic properties of correlated oxides.
- Advanced model Hamiltonians applied to describe the phase diagram of complex doped and disordered oxides.
- The phenomenology of complex functional oxides, including magnetism and multiferroicity in bulk and low-dimensional (i.e. heterostructure) oxides.
- Basic introduction to oxide growth and characterization techniques.

There will be few slots for posters / contributed talks.
Efforts will be made to provide accomodation to out-station participants in the guest-house/nearby guest-houses.
There is a registration fee of Rs. 1000.
The school is being organized in the framework of the FP7 EU-India "ATHENA" Project jointly funded by European Union and DST of India
