First, verify the availability of a document in the Library from the ‘Online Catalogue/ OPAC’ (Online Public Access Catalogue) under ‘Resources’ in the library page <http://www.bose.res.in/~library/FILES/resources.htm>. Second, find the book in the open stacks for yourself. Third, check out the books using your Library Card at Circulation Desk near the Library Entrance. Circulation hours are: Monday – Friday: 08:00 am - 07:30 pm / Saturdays: 09:00 am - 05:30 pm.
It is to protect you against false issuing of documents against your account (which is a possibility). In this situation the Library takes full responsibility to protect your account.

Documents may be presented either at the Circulation Desk during the circulation hours, or dropped in the’ Book Drop Box’ (placed outside the Library) any time.
Books that are not yet overdue or have not been requested by another borrower can be renewed at the Circulation Desk. A document can be renewed twice, upon which it needs to be returned back to the Library. You can check-out the book again after 7 days. (Many users learn of the existence of books by their physical presence in the library)
Open 'Online Catalogue/ OPAC' (Online Public Access Catalogue) in your machine, click on'Patron' and enter your 'Member ID' to see your account which will contain exhaustive info.
One needs to 'reserve' the book in question by filling up the appropriate form available at the Circulation Desk. The book will be issued to you on its return.
The late fee is Re.1 per day which can be accumulated to a maximum of Rs. 40, upon which the system locks itself from further transactions against your account. The late fee should be paid at the Circulation Desk. Remember to collect the receipt.
Yes, there are arrangements for Inter-Library Loan of books or requisition of journal articles from certain libraries in India. Approach the librarian with the names of the libraries where such documents are available. (N.B: Library does not deal with priced articles)
The book may be in use by another Library member, or it may have been put aside, such as waiting to be shelved and in bindery. Please ask Library staff.
Of course. Complete a 'Requisition Form' and hand over to the Library staff. Students should get these forms forwarded by their respective guide/any faculty member. Requisitions may be made based on catalogues or displayed books in the Library. (Books are displayed round the year, replaced with new titles every Tuesday / Friday).
Free for library cardholders for official/educational purpose. Charged @ Re. 1 per page for personal use by cardholders/ others. Only library documents will be photocopied, within the permissible pages as per the Copy right rules.
A number of journals are available in full-text format to the Library members. Some journals are available electronically corresponding to their printed versions. Others are available only online. Check the list of electronic journals (including 'Archives') available on the Library's Homepage <http://www.bose.res.in/~library/journals.htm>. For more information, ask at the Library. A scanner is available in the Library. Ask the Circulation Desk for assistance during the Circulation Hours.
